about the consultant

I have always loved planning events, being creative and concentrating on details – and this profession brings all of that together.  After planning my own wedding (and watching many of my friends plan theirs), I realized the challenge of having a “big city” event in a somewhat mid-sized town.  Many of my friends were going to Chicago to buy their dresses, talk with planners or hire florists – it frustrated me that we weren’t keeping our brides right here in central Illinois.  It was also frustrating to me, as a bride that I would find something unique and trendy on TheKnot or in a magazine – but then I couldn’t find someone who could do it for me!  So….I ended up doing it all myself!

I was born here and stayed here through college (Go Bradley!) – so my love of central Illinois runs deep – and it was breaking my heart that people weren’t finding the resources they needed here in their own back yard.  I wanted to help fulfill that need…..and So Chic Events was born!

I hold both a Bachelors degree in Communication (Public Relations and Business Administration) and a Master’s degree in Human Service Administration from Bradley University. I always knew that I wanted to do something hands-on and creative…and this is the best of both worlds! I also have the designation of Professional Bridal Consultant™ through the Association of Bridal Consultants.

For the past eight years, I have worked with numerous nonprofits doing fundraising and development. My planning has included a little bit of everything. From galas to trivia nights to International Conventions for 3,000 people, I know how to manage details for events both big and small. Also, with that background, I certainly know how to create a fabulous event with a minimal budget. I have also spent the last four years working in Student Affairs at Bradley – and teaching Communication and Leadership Studies classes in my spare time.
